Prospero Classical, 2022

Works by Schumann, Heine and Catranis

Susanne Szambelan shines with a lush cello tone and evokes a pathos that no modern singer would dare, and Jerzy Chwastyk, who also created the arrangement (which seeks to preserve the keys chosen by the composer), makes the guitar sing and leads it into a lively dialogue with the cello, which here also takes over parts of the piano part. And obviously the two closely intertwined instruments find that fulfilment of love which is denied to the lyrical I in Heine’s poems, which finds an appropriate creative realisation in the recitation of the mature Hanns Zischler, who acts with pleasantly discreet vibrato. In this way, the rendition creates a delightful dialectical tension.

“Jerzy Chwastyk devotes himself to Spanish guitar classics with heartfelt gentleness and devotion.”
“He is a poet. And here it can be heard again, the wonderful gentleness, intimate precision, the silvery pearly soft playing of the Polish guitarist Jerzy Chwastyk, which we know from the Schubert/Mertz interpretation from his debut “La Joia”
Stefan Sell, Crescendo Magazine

Romance

Canciones y danzas, 2019

de Falla | Piazolla | Bartók
Debussy | Fauré

“With this CD, Slovenian violinist Tjasa Kastelic and her congenial accompanist Jerzy Chwastyk on the guitar carry the listener away into a world of enchanting sounds.”

(Remy Franck, Pizzicato Magazine)

“Ob Bartoks tänzerische, folkloristische Leichtigkeit, das spanische Feuer in der Suite von de Falla oder die wilde Leidenschaft bei den Tango von Astor Piazzolla – selten hat man diese Musik mit so viel Herzblut und Meisterschaft erlebt. Ganz besondere Preziosen sind jedoch die französischen Impressionen von Fauré und Debussy-zauberhaft und elfengleich entrücken sie den Hörer in poetische Sphären.
